Happy Friday everyone! It’s cocktail’o’clock here at work. The hubby and I are the last ones here and I’ve got Blister in the Sun pumping on the speakers in the office and we’re drinking Manhattan’s, my go-to cocktail. Just in case you don’t know the glories of this simple yet complicated drink, here’s the recipe:
Ingredients
- 3/4 oz sweet vermouth
- 2 1/2 oz bourbon (I like Bulleit)
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
13 maraschino cherries
Directions
1. Combine vermouth, bourbon, and bitters over ice in mixing glass, stir gently.
2. Place the cherries into cocktail glass and strain whiskey mixture into glass
3. Drink. Repeat.
So the recipe I actually made today was 5oz bulleit / 2oz sweet vermouth / 6 dashes angostura for 2 manhattans. I think I’ll be doing 6oz bulleit / 1oz vermouth next time though.
As a bourbon lover on a low-carb diet, the manhattan is my go-to cocktail. I like to use cherry bitters to amp up the cherry flavor.
That’s a great idea. I’m obsessed with cherry flavor, so I’ll have to try that next time we make Manhattans 🙂
